Application of metal stainless steel in corrosion resistant materials in chlor-alkali industry

The chlor-alkali industry is highly corrosive. The process media and finished products used in its production process, such as saturated brine, wet chlorine gas, caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, and sulfuric acid, are all highly chemically corrosive. Therefore, the selection of corrosion-resistant materials for equipment structures is particularly important, and the correct choice of corrosion-resistant materials has become a major challenge.

Carbon steel, the most common and relatively inexpensive material, has traditionally been used. However, it suffers from severe corrosion in hydrochloric acid or dilute sulfuric acid, leading most manufacturers to abandon carbon steel.

When the concentration of caustic soda exceeds 30% or the temperature exceeds 80°C, stainless steel becomes increasingly popular in the chlor-alkali industry. Generally speaking, 316L stainless steel is suitable for liquid caustic soda at temperatures between 50-100°C; 304L stainless steel is suitable for liquid caustic soda below 50°C. This is economical and does not increase production costs.

Foshan Xinliheng Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. mainly produces stainless steel pipes, stainless steel flat plates, colored plates, and various other stainless steel products. If you are unsure which material is suitable for your product, you can consult a professional online for free.
